IDEAS AND DRAFTS- Draft 1

This is my first draft for my SIP :)

Topic of investigation: Effect of pH on the corrosion of copper
Research Question: What is the effect of pH on the corrosion of copper?
Hypothesis: Lower pH, the more the copper corrodes
Purpose: Find the correct pH level of water running in copper pipes so as to prevent corrosion of copper which causes contamination of water, resulting in negative health effects for consumers of contaminated water.

REVIEW OF MY FIRST DRAFT :)
- Results are too predictable
- Theory behind experiment has been proven many times
-  Conducting the experiment would just be a demonstration of how the theory works
- Not much investigation can be carried out
- Not much discovery because carrying out the experiment would just be a confirmation of the theory: Lower the pH level/ more acidic, more and faster corrosion. Higher acidity, more corrosion.
- Hypothesis is very predictable and the theory was learnt in chemistry lessons, not much investigation and exploration can be done solely based on that experiment
- Problem with the purpose of the experiment- Most suitable pH level of water in copper pipes has already been found out!! -> Water running through copper pipes should be alkaline at pH 7

THUS IDEA IS SCRAPED. :(
